The comprehensive plan for the management of HIV and AIDS in the Department of Defence support the national HIV Counseling and Testing Campaign of the National Department of Health that was launched by President Jacob Zuma and the Minister of Health, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi,

To show the commitment of the DOD to the national campaign, the SAMHS held an Open Health Day on 1 December 2010 at all its health facilities where members of the DOD went for health check-ups, including HIV Counseling and Testing.
