SA Army Engineers hard at work creating embankments to level the gabions at Kopa, Chimanimani. The team is on-site building a Bailey bridge that will reconnect nearby communities whose access was cut-off following the devastation caused in the area by Tropical Cyclone Idai early this year.

The storm wreaked havoc in low-lying areas in Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Malawi, leaving more than 1 300 people dead and many more displaced. This prompted the SA government to deploy the SA National Defence Force on a humanitarian mission to bring desperately needed relief to affected areas.
