Minister of Defence and Military Veterans host her counterpart from Chad

The Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Mrs Nosiviwe Mapisa-Ngcakula hosted Chad Minister of Defence, Mr Benaindo Tatola and his delegation at the DOD VIP Lounge in OR Tambo International Airport on the 6 June 2013.
The visit happened in the context of consolidating the African Agenda through the enhancement and deepening of bilateral social, economic and political relations. This meeting served as another building block in the process of strengthening the friendship, common interest and military to military cooperation between the two defence forces.
During the visit which was aimed at further strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation that exists between the two countries, two countries held substantive and fruitful discussions on wide range of issues of common interest across bilateral, regional and international spectrum.
The two ministers assessed the relationship between the two countries and agreed on ways to further strengthening the bilateral ties. The two ministers discussed and concretize cooperation in the key priority areas such as cooperation in defence.
Joint efforts towards a common cause, shared goals and other capabilities that would help in realizing democracy and good governance were also discussed. The two countries emphasized that the meeting paved the way for cooperation in defence relations, military diplomacy and other cooperation dealing with a number of significant areas of beneficial engagements.
