On 18 July 2012, members from the IG DOD committed their 67 minutes to the Potter’s House at the Tshwane Leadership Foundation in Pretoria to commemorate and celebrate the 94th birthday of the former President, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.

The Potter’s House caters for abandoned children and abused women and children and provides holistic support for women in crisis. The facility outreaches to the city streets, slum buildings, prison and the psychiatric hospital.

Upon arrival at the Potter’s house, members wasted no time in getting down to praise and worship, and sang the “Happy Birth day” song for Madiba.

It was evident that the IG DOD members were up to the legacy of reaching out by placing others before self and connecting with the underprivileged. They donated non-perishable items, blankets and groceries.

Brig Gen Willie Letseleba, the Acting IG DOD, urged people not to despair, even though we were facing difficulties and challenges at the present time. He reminded us that the Madiba Magic had united us in difficult circumstances in the past and gave us hope in times of hardship. “He is the father of our nation and the most lovable and the greatest leader of all time,” he said.
