STATEMENT BY THE SOUTH AFRICAN NATIONAL DEFENCE FORCE (SANDF): REMINDER: CHIEF OF THE SA NAVY MEDIA BRIEFING ON THE 3RD SEA POWER FOR AFRICA SYMPOSIUM

The Chief of the South African Navy, Vice Admiral Refiloe Mudimu will host a media briefing on Monday 02 March 2009 at the Naval Mess Pretoria, Church Street at 09H30 for 10H00. The purpose of the media briefing is to inform the media about the 3rd Sea Power for Africa Symposium to be hosted by the South African Navy at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from 9 to 12 March 2009.

The 3rd Sea Power for Africa Symposium will be hosted for the second time in our shores by the South African Navy . The Symposium aims to create a forum where Chiefs of African Navies can discuss matters of mutual maritime importance in order to create greater understanding, co-operation and friendship within the continent.

During the media briefing on Monday 02 March 2009, Vice Admiral Mudimu will also update the media about the latest developments with regard to the recent and the future cooperation endeavours undertaken by the South African Navy with its neighbouring countries under the auspices of the AU and SADC.

The theme of the 3rd Sea Power for Africa Symposium is “Towards Effective Maritime Governance for Africa”.
