STATEMENT BY THE SOUTH AFRICAN NATIONAL
DEFENCE FORCE (SANDF): SANDF PARTICIPATION IN
FREEDOM DAY CELEBRATIONS

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF),
as instructed by the Commander-in-Chief, His
Excellency, President Kgalema Motlanthe, will
form part of the Freedom Day celebrations on 27
April 2009 at the ABSA Stadium in Durban,
KwaZulu-Natal.
The colourful military ceremony will commence
with a podium group consisting of the President
of the Republic of South Africa, the Minister of
Arts and Culture, the Premier of the KwaZulu-Natal
Province and the Mayor of Durban, followed by a
National Salute consisting of the following:
- A Guard of Honour by the National
Ceremonial Guard.
- A 21 Gun Salute by the Natal Field
Artillery.
- National Anthem by the South African
Army Military Band Durban.
- A Salute Flight by three SA Air Force
Oryx helicopters.
