STATEMENT BY THE SOUTH AFRICAN NATIONAL DEFENCE FORCE: FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS OF THE SANDF SOLDIER WHO DIED IN SUDAN

The South African National Defence Force announces the funeral arrangements of the late Rifleman Lesedi Boitumelo Monaisa (21), who passed away on Friday 19 September 2008 in Sudan.

The funeral service of Rifleman Monaisa will be held at the Roman Catholic Church in Ikageng, Potchefstroom on Saturday 04 October 2008 at 06:30. Her remains will thereafter be laid to rest during a full military funeral service at Ikageng Cemetery at 09:00.

She is survived by her mother, Ms Dipuo Martha Motingwe and her daughter Kamogelo Lettie Monaisa.

Rifleman Monaisa passed away following what was alleged to be a scorpion sting at Mahla Military Base in Sudan. She was deployed in support of the United Nations/African Union Mission in Sudan.
