STATEMENT BY THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE: UPDATE: MEMORIAL SERVICE OF THE LATE SECRETARY FOR DEFENCE, MR JANUARY BOY MASILELA

The Department of Defence (DOD) will conduct a memorial service in honour of the late Secretary for Defence Mr January Boy Masilela who passed on following a motor vehicle accident on the N4 Highway in Bornkhortspruit, on the morning of Sunday 24 August 2008.

The memorial service will take place on Thursday, 28 August 2008, at Thaba Tshwane Town Hall, in Pretoria at 13:30.

The Deputy Minister of Defence, Mr Mluleki George will deliver a keynote address. Other speakers will include officials from the government, military, family, friends and close associates.

The funeral arrangements will be announced once confirmed by the family.
