INVITATION TO ATTEND THE SYMBOLIC HANDOVER OF GOODWILL PARCELS AND HAMPERS

On Tuesday, 25 November 2008, the Spouse of the Chief of the South African National Defence Force (CSANDF), Mrs Busisiwe Ngwenya will symbolically hand over goodwill parcels and hampers to Chief of Services and Divisions. The handing over will take place at 10 Air Depot at 10:00.

The Goodwill Parcel project had its origins in 2001, when the Warrant Officer of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) and the Warrant Officer of the Joint Operations Division decided to send goodwill parcels to all members deployed operationally during the festive season. Since no funds were available, they requested each Warrant Officer in the SANDF to donate R1.00 towards the cause. The first goodwill food parcels were sent to externally deployed soldiers during the 2001 Festive Season.

The project has since grown and includes sponsorships and donations from the business community in contributing towards the goodwill parcels for deployed soldiers. Since 2007, the Hamper Pack for families and members on duty and in hospitals has been introduced.

The aim of the project is to illustrate, especially over the Festive Season, to all deployed soldiers, members on duty, patients in hospitals and families of deployed members that the leadership of the SANDF and the South African Business community do really care for them.
