STATEMENT BY DEPARTMENT OF DEFENCE HEADQUARTERS: MEMORIAL SERVICE OF THE NINE SOUTH AFRICAN NATIONAL DEFENCE FORCE SOLDIERS WHO DIED DURING THE FATAL ACCIDENT AT EXERCISE SEBOKA.

The Department of Defence (DOD) will conduct a memorial service in honour of the nine South African National Defence Force soldiers who died during the fatal accident at Exercise Seboka on Friday 12 October 2007.

The memorial service will take place on Wednesday 24 October 2007, at the Alexanderfontein Church in Kimberley at 10:00.

The Honourable Minister of Defence, Mr Mosiuoa Lekota, the Chief of SA Army, General Solly Shoke, the Honourable Member of Executive Council (MEC) for Provincial Safety and Liaison, Ms Themsi Madikane on behalf of the Premier of the Northern Cape and the Executive Mayor of the Sol Plaatje Municipality, Kimberley Mr Patrick Lenyibi, will attend.
