STATEMENT BY DEPARTMENT OF DEFENCE HEADQUARTERS: R1.8 MILLION DONATED TO THE SOUTH AFRICAN NATIONAL DEFENCE FORCE FOR THE GOODWILL GIFT INITIATIVE

On 19 September 2007 the Chief of the Corporate Staff, Lieutenant General Rinus Jansen van Rensburg, received sponsorships to the value of R1.8 million from various sponsors on behalf of the SANDF. This donation will be utilised for Goodwill parcels (Christmas gifts) for all SANDF members deployed on peacekeeping missions and other SANDF missions internally and externally.

From 10 to 14 December 2007, Lieutenant General Rinus Jansen van Rensburg and other senior members of the SANDF, accompanied by the sponsors will hand over goodwill parcels to deployed soldiers in Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan.
