MEDIA STATEMENT ON THE ARREST OF SOUTH
AFRICAN NATIONAL DEFENCE FORCE (SANDF) MEMBERS

Acting Chief of the South African National
Defence Force, Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Solly
Shoke says members of the SANDF who engage in
illegal acts in contravention of the Military
Discipline Code and the Defence Act, will face
the full might of the law.
Chief of the SA Army was responding to a
group of people including uniformed members of
the SA Army Reserve Force who were arrested by
members of the Military Police Agency at 21
South African Infantry Battalion (21 SAI) in
Lenz on Monday, 04 December 2006 on amongst
others, allegations of protesting in full
military uniform.
Lt. General Shoke emphasized that all
military facilities or installations are
restricted areas. He furthermore issued a stern
warning to any person(s) or group of people
intending to protest and or, may plan to conduct
protests activities in any military base, that
they will be in contravention of the Military
Discipline Code and the Defence Act and will be
arrested and prosecute accordingly.
