MEDIA INVITATION TO SA AIR FORCE MUSEUM
AIRSHOW – 17 SEPTEMBER 2005

You are cordially invited to send a
journalist and a photographer/cameraperson to
attend the SA Air Force Museum airshow on
Saturday, 17 August 2005 to be held at Swartkop,
(formerly Air Force Base Swartkop) in Valhalla.
Gates will open at 07h00 on Saturday with the
airshow programme commencing from 10h00 until
the end of the day. This event is viewed on the
SA airshow calendar as the primary airshow for
the Gauteng Province and will also be
celebrating 85 years of existence of the SA Air
Force (SAAF).
The attractions for the day include flying
displays by current serving SA Air Force
aircraft, such as the Silver Falcons, Cheetah,
Impala, Cessna 208, C-47, Casa 212, and the Oryx
helicopter. SAAF Museum aircraft on static
display include the Mirage III, Mirage F1-AZ,
Vampire, Puma helicopter, Bosbok, Harvard and
Kudu, to name a few. The SA Air Force in
conjunction with the South African Airways
Historic Flight will re-enact the Dakota Shuttle
Service of World War 2 with a flypast by 3 x
DC-3’s and a DC-4. Civilian aerobatic teams that
will be thrilling spectators at the airshow
include the SASOL Tigers aerobatic team, Samba
Lambada, Mazda Zoom Zoom, Chubb, Red Bull and
the Flying Lions.
