MEDIA STATEMENT BY THE SOUTH AFRICAN MINISTRY OF DEFENCE

In response to media queries regarding the Honourable Minister of Defence, Mr Mosiuoa Lekota, the Ministry of Defence wishes to confirm the following.

Minister Lekota was admitted to a Cape Town hospital in the early hours of Thursday 10 November 2005 due to a medical condition that needed urgent intervention. The intervention was successful. The Minister is currently in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit. His condition is stable.
